How to get grease out of clothes
Soak up the oil before you add any water. Blot it, cover the spot with cornstarch or baking soda for 15 minutes and brush it off. Rub in a few drops of dish soap, leave it 10 minutes, then rinse and wash in the hottest water the care label allows. Air dry until the mark has gone.
Why it works
Oil doesn't mix with water, so rinsing alone moves it around. Soak it up first, then use dish soap, which is made to break down grease.

What not to do
- Don't put it in the dryer until the stain is completely gone. Dryer heat bakes oil in for good.
- Don't scrub it with a wet cloth before you've soaked up the oil. It spreads the stain wider.
Use one product at a time and rinse between them. Never mix bleach with ammonia, vinegar or other cleaners, as it gives off toxic fumes.
