Liquid, pods, powder, or another sheet

See how it compares.

Pick what you wash with today. Real switchers tell you what actually changed.

The question everyone asks first

Does one little sheet actually work?

Fair question. Here's how it actually works.

A jug of liquid detergent is mostly water.

You pay for the water, haul the water, and store the water. The part that cleans is a fraction of what's in the bottle — and then the empty jug becomes your problem.

01

We removed the water, not the cleaning power

Seven plant-based surfactants, concentrated and pressed into a dry sheet. Same job as liquid, without the gallon of water around it.

02

Fully dissolved in 10 seconds

Hot or cold water. Front-loader, top-loader, HE, or hand-wash. No residue, no film, no white streaks on your darks.

03

Third-party tested

Tested to avoid 1,4-dioxane, phthalates, bleach, and dyes. Biodegradable per OECD 301b. Septic and grey-water safe.

04

A month of laundry in one compostable envelope

No bulky dispenser on the shelf, nothing to haul to the laundromat, and a few sheets tuck flat into a suitcase without leaking.

Hand placing a HeySunday sheet into a washer drum
Small sheet, real cleaning power

Common stains. Cold water.

Designed to combat tough stains with none of the toxic chemicals found in traditional detergents. All washed cold, one to three sheets per load.

The honest part

One sheet isn't always enough.

Each sheet cleans a small load. Bigger or heavier loads need more, and we'd rather tell you now than have you blame the sheet later.

Most "sheets don't clean" stories are one sheet dropped on a packed drum.

Dose it right and it cleans like the jug did. That's the whole trick.

A jug never stops costing you. You pay to ship the water, haul it up the stairs, and find shelf space for it. And when it’s empty, it probably won’t be recycled, just buried.

The case against laundry sheets

The five complaints about sheets. Answered.

Every one of these is a fair criticism of the format. We'll take them in order, including the parts where the honest answer is a tradeoff rather than a clean win.

1"They don't dissolve. You get film on darks and gum in the drum."

Usually that is placement. A sheet pressed flat against a wet drum wall half dissolves and stays stuck there.

Load the clothes first, then put the sheet on top of them, and it is gone in about 10 seconds, cold or hot, in a front-loader, a top-loader or an HE machine. If your machine has a detergent dispenser, tear the sheet up and put the pieces in there instead. Both work equally well. Our reviewers say it less politely than we would: "completely dissolves even in cold water, doesn't gunk up our machine."

If yours does something else, email us and we will refund you.

2"If it takes two or three sheets a load, it isn't actually cheaper."

Fair. So price it at the dose you would actually use. A pack is $15 on subscription and holds 60 sheets, which puts a small load at 25¢ and a medium one at 50¢.

We're not the cheapest thing on the shelf and we won't pretend to be.

You are paying the difference for a cupboard shelf with no jug on it, and for never again rinsing a sticky cap or wiping a drip off the side of one. Every order also donates 5 loads to a partner shelter or food bank — clean clothes for someone heading to school or a job interview.

3"There isn't enough detergent in one sheet. They don't clean like liquid."

Under-dosed, yes. One sheet carries enough surfactant for a small load, and most of the "sheets don't work" verdicts come from a single sheet thrown into a packed drum.

Dose it properly and you get protease, the enzyme on our label that breaks down protein soils like blood, grass, sweat and food. The label does not include lipase, amylase or oxygen bleach, so set-in grease and dingy whites will still want a booster. We would rather tell you that now than let you find out in the machine.

Otherwise the 60-day guarantee covers it. Run it through a week of your own laundry and judge it on that.

4"Clothes come out fine, then smell musty a week later."

That is body soil still sitting in the fabric, the sebum and sweat that a light dose in a cold wash did not fully lift. Towels, gym kit and bedding show it first.

Two unglamorous fixes. Use the second sheet on medium loads, and wash towels and gym kit warm instead of cold. Protease is in the formula for this exact class of soil, but it can only work on what actually makes it into the drum.

5"They fuse into a brick in a humid laundry room."

That can happen to any dry sheet, ours included. Fold the envelope shut after you take a sheet out and keep the pack somewhere cool and dry — off the top of the dryer, off a damp shelf beside the machine.

Fused sheets still work. Tear a chunk off the block and dose by eye instead of counting. And if a pack turns up fused, it is covered like anything else.

Every answer above ends the same way: 60 days, money back, and no return shipping to pay. If we've talked you into something your laundry disagrees with, we'll cover it.

What's not in it

A short list. Nothing extra.

"As close to baking soda and vinegar as you can get — while ensuring it actually works."

We're here to help

Before you ask.

Yes, when it's dosed right. A jug of liquid is mostly water; the sheet is the same seven plant-based surfactants with the water taken out and pressed into cellulose fiber. One sheet cleans a small load, two a medium, three a full drum.

Yes. Sheets fully dissolve in about 10 seconds in hot or cold water, in front-loaders, top-loaders, HE machines, and hand-wash basins, without residue or film.

No. The sheet dissolves completely in about 10 seconds, hot or cold, so there are no flakes or streaks left on darks. One tip: load your clothes first, then put the sheet on top of them rather than against the wet drum wall, so it never sticks or half-dissolves. If your machine has a detergent dispenser, tearing the sheet into pieces and putting them in the dispenser works just as well.

Same as the panel on the pack: one sheet for small loads (drum about ¼ full), two for medium (about ¾ full), three for a full drum, and one extra on top for heavily soiled loads. When in doubt, add a sheet. Under-dosing is the #1 reason people think sheets "don't work."

Yes. No bleach and no dyes means it's safe for darks, colors, and whites alike.

Yes, and you can pre-treat with it: wet the spot, rub a corner of a sheet in, then wash as usual. For heavily soiled or smelly loads, add one extra sheet on top of your normal count.

The Fragrance Free pack has no added fragrance, no dyes, and no bleach, and the formula is third-party tested against harsh chemicals like 1,4-dioxane and phthalates. If your skin disagrees, the 60-day money-back guarantee applies.

Skip, pause, or cancel your subscription anytime from your account, or donate your next pack to a partner near you with one tap. You're never stuck.

Yes. Polyvinyl alcohol is what binds the sheet together until water dissolves it, and it's listed second on our label. It's water-soluble, which is why the sheet is gone in about 10 seconds and leaves no film in the drum. Research on how completely PVA breaks down after wastewater treatment is still developing, so we describe our packaging as plastic-free and compostable rather than making that claim about the sheet itself. The full ingredient list is printed on every pack.

Protease, yes, which handles protein soils: blood, grass, sweat, food. Lipase, amylase, and oxygen bleach are not in the formula, so set-in grease and heavily dingy whites may still want a dedicated booster.
